Please use / adapt one of the these two motions for your trade union branch or other organisation.

The first is a broader motion that includes affiliation to Ukraine Solidarity Campaign. The second is specifically on current aid fundraising and delivery (which is also covered in the first motion).

Solidarity with Ukraine and its workers

This branch notes:
1. The resilience and bravery of the Ukrainian people in the face of the suffering caused by Russia’s ongoing invasion, occupation and war crimes.
2. That TUC Congress 2026 unanimously passed the National Union of Mineworkers’ motion ‘Solidarity with Ukrainian workers’ (1), demanding freedom for the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant workers (activists in the Atomprofspilka union) imprisoned by Russia, and reaffirming the Ukraine solidarity policy passed in 2023.
3. That this stance is the result of years of grassroots trade union solidarity campaigning, and provides a strong platform for expanded solidarity.
4. That the Ukraine Solidarity Campaign (USC) (2) is a trade union-based campaign with affiliations from nine national unions (ASLEF, NUM, PCS, UCU, UNISON, GMB, Unite, CWU, MU) and from branches across the country.
5. That an international trade union and social movement solidarity convoy (3) is visiting Ukraine and taking aid to workers’ organisations there in November and December.

This branch believes:
1. That both Ukraine’s struggle against Russia’s invasion and occupation and Ukrainian trade union and social movements’ struggles within the country for workers’ rights, social provision and democracy urgently need solidarity.

This branch resolves:
1. To affiliate to Ukraine Solidarity Campaign.
2. To support the international solidarity convoy; donate £… to the aid USC is organising as part of it (4); promote the appeal to members; and investigate getting donations of items.
3. To invite USC to send a speaker and ask them to help organise a Ukrainian trade union speaker.
4. To write to the Russian embassy demanding freedom for the imprisoned Zaporizhzhia nuclear workers.
5. To promote the parliamentary Early Day Motion on that put forward by Nadia Whittome MP (5).
