Thousands joined the solidarity protest in London on Saturday 22 February, organised by a coalition of UK labour movement and progressive Ukrainian organisations (including USC) under the slogans “Russian troops out – Solidarity with Ukraine”.

The vibrant demonstration marched to the Russian embassy, with rallies at the start and end hearing from a wide range of speakers including MPs, trade union leaders and activists, and many Ukrainian campaigners.

There were also sizeable demonstrations in other UK cities, and other cities around the world. In the face of American imperialism under Trump turning against Ukraine, there is renewed determination among many to build solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

We will be working with our partners on a range of initiatives in the months ahead. Meanwhile we encourage all those who support Ukraine and its workers to:

Join USC as an individual and / or get your organisation to affiliate;

• Invite us to send a speaker to your organisation / meeting;

• Donate to, promote or raise funds for our financial appeal in support of a Ukrainian trade union project to aid frontline defenders;

• Get involved in Ukraine solidarity work in trade unions;

• Support our campaigns in support of the fight to defend workers’ rights in Ukraine, and for the right to permanent settlement for Ukrainian refugees in the UK.
