Since its launch in June 2024, our appeal for the Ukraine Mining Rescue Squads has raised over £17,000, plus valuable direct donations of equipment and PPE. However, the cost of the specialized equipment they urgently need is extremely high, and we’re aiming to reach at least £22,000 by November 2024 to continue our support.

We need your help.

Please consider donating to this critical cause, circulating the appeal within your networks, and raising funds in your union or organization. Every contribution makes a difference. If you can assist with direct donations of equipment or PPE, please get in touch with us at info@ukrainesolidaritycampaign.org.

With the backing of UK trade unions, including ASLEF and NUM, the Ukraine Solidarity Campaign is responding to an urgent call from the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine (NGPU). The NGPU represents the teams of the 10th Mining Rescue Squad in eastern Ukraine, who are working in perilous conditions under constant threat from Russian artillery and missile attacks.

These rescue workers are performing life-saving operations in the most dangerous conditions, using minimal equipment. The funds raised will help provide the tools they desperately need to continue their heroic work.

Equipment they need:

• Fire boots, helmets, gloves, and protective clothing

• Heavy-duty rescue equipment like the Atlas diesel compressor and Hyundai flood pump

• Thermal imagers, gas analysers, medical trauma kits, and more

The work of the rescue teams is vital, and the Ukrainian miners and rescue workers need the proper resources to carry out their operations. Your support—whether through donations or awareness-raising in your community—will help make that possible.

We thank all those who have already contributed, including the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), ASLEF, London Fire Brigade branch UNISON, and others. We are also grateful to the Trades Union Congress (TUC) for their ongoing support.

Together, we can make a life-saving difference. Please donate today and share this appeal with others.
