The mobilization against the closure of Tauride University (Kyiv) is accelerating. The student union Priama Diia (Direct Action) has called a rally on Thursday:
“On Thursday, January 25 at 12:00 p.m., students will take part in an action under the walls of Building 1 of TNU (33 John McCain Street) to meet the initiator of the university merger, Mykhailo Vinnytskyi. We invite everyone who wishes to join the campaign to support TNU students in the fight to preserve their university! »
Furthermore, the union is launching an international petition open for signature to students or former students, professors or former professors, members or former members of educational communities.
International petition
No to the closure of Kyiv Tauride University (Ukraine)
We the undersigned, students or former students, professors or former professors, members or former members of the educational communities in our respective countries support Ukraine in its resistance to the imperialist aggression of the Russian Federation.
We believe in a free and independent Ukraine.
We deeply regret the planned closure of Tauride University in Kyiv. This Crimean university, which found refuge and protection in 2014 in free Ukraine, is essential to the development of quality university education for Ukrainian youth.
50 other universities are also threatened with closure.
We support the students of this university who are mobilizing in its defense.
We call on the Ukrainian government to abandon this project, which is a blow to Ukraine’s educational and cultural heritage, and puts the students of this university at risk. Indeed, the students of this university risk finding themselves in a disastrous social situation. Signature to be returned to:
